Kit-Bashing: Evil Candy Corn

Freebies used:

The candy corn prop needs to be scaled up quite a bit, then inverted. It takes a little time to position the legs and arms of the other two figure props, but once they’re in place and parented to the candy corn you’re good to go. (BTW, I love the long nail morph on the Zombie Economics hands; I turned off the limits and made them into claws.) I used the sand prop instead of a rock but there are a ton of free (and commercial of course!) rock props as well as many styles of display props.

I tried an Iray render but it was way too grainy. Probably failed to adjust some setting. The glass looked very nice but the figure itself was too hard too see, especially at the bottom. I didn’t use any glass shader on the 3DL render; not sure if I have a decent one. Glass materials have always been a problem for me. Ugh.

Anyway, if anyone is so inclined to give this a try themselves, the candy corn texture is inside…

Bronze Age freebies

So now I have a G3M texture, yay! Ragnar was in the FastGrab for $6; don’t have Gianni 7 or the G3M Body Morphs, but that’s okay for now.

So if one has an Achilles, one might want to trot out some Bronze Age props! Not that there are very many of them, but Gazza at Renderosity’s Freestuff has a Boar Tusk Helmet and Tower Shield. Alas, it doesn’t look like he ever got around to making armor like the Dendra Panoply, but one takes what one can get when it comes to the Bronze Age.

I fell in love with The Iliad when I was fourteen, and so the Bronze Age and Trojan War has always been a thing for me. Even after all this time. 😀

October 2016 budget wrecking

off to walk the pet dragon on the battlements

That over-the-top floofy dress is awesome! Put it on G2F Skyler, then continued my “little girls and dragons” theme — I’m rather fond of that Long Neck Dragon figure, even if it is an old one. And I’d forgotten I’d bought the Castle Turret. It’s a nice prop, though it takes quite a while to render. (This one took almost four hours.)

As October winds down, I realize I managed to spend more money than I intended. I’d been pretty good the last few months, but that PC sale usually pulls me in, even if I’m no longer in the PC Club.

A few non-Halloween products I was especially excited to get hold of:

figures_g2m-darius-6 figuresi_g1-freak-5 characters_g3m-achilles-hd-1 hair_ali-hr-174

Darius 6! He finally joins Lee 6, and now I only need Mei Lin 6  and Monique 6 to finish up my “wish list” of Gen2 base figures (though I wouldn’t mind acquiring Scott 6 if he goes on sale.) I bought Freak 5 because he was only $1.99. Good deal! After I bought the Achilles face I realized that I still have no texture sets for the G3M! None, except the one he came with. I suppose I’ll have to do something about that one of these days. 😛 Liked the look of Ali’s new hair prop; bought it at his store instead of Renderosity.

Then there were the Halloween-themed indulgences:

Already mentioned why I picked up Jezabeth. The Possessed V4 texture was a good deal and I generally like this vendor’s textures; buying it was pretty much inevitable. Maddelerium’s store is on sale at Renderosity, and so I bought Kelsey V4, which in turn allowed me to get Giggles V4 for free (part of the current Halloween deals at the store.) Stan M4 now has an equally creepy female counterpart! The Ring Light set was inexpensive and since it’s for Iray, I figure it’ll come in handy — and I like some of the special effects. Finally, the Hat House…cute and toony!

Wow, I still buy a lot of stuff for V4.

Last minute Halloween costume

Usage: Okay for commercial and personal use.

Required: Most Digital Creation’s Sign Prop

Info: Pretty much self-explanatory; previews of the sign textures in this post.

As previously mentioned, the prop loads roughly in the right hand area and you’ll have to make a few translation and/or rotation adjustments to the sign after posing the figure.

Poser and DS files in the Poser runtime; move around as suits your needs.

It took me so long to upload the zip file because I couldn’t figure out why my scaling pose for the prop didn’t work in Poser. Worse still, I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t even save the scaling preset in Poser itself. I tried everything and was baffled as to why I wasn’t getting that little “+” to save the file.

Finally, it occurred to me to search for issues re: prop poses and I discovered that sometimes prop poses don’t work unless there’s a figure loaded into the scene. I think this is very strange and can’t imagine why anyone thought it was a good idea, but at least I finally figured it out…

No poses, though I still might give it a try later.

As always, please let me know if there are any issues with the zip files.
