Random renders, Skullcrusher Ogre

I have now officially rendered my first DAZ Monstrosity, the Skullcrusher Ogre:

I even accidentally color-coordinated my ogre with the background prop!

Original Genesis with two older AntFarm figures: O-Gee and Tea House Spirit. It’s been a long time since I rendered either of them. I’d forgotten how darn cute they are.

Ran the final render through a couple filters.

The husband came in while I was rendering it and said, “Men in Black. Sort of.”

If he noticed the homage, I must’ve done something right. 😛

Dawn Indian woman WIP

Yeah, I was correct in anticipating the nose part of this project would be a bit of a problem. Just not enough fine-tuning nose morphs available for Dawn, and the mesh gets a little temperamental when the space between lower nose and upper mouth is narrowed. Not all Indian women would have this feature, of course, but the photo references I happened to have on hand showed a fair number of women with that narrower space and a more down-turned nose tip.

The rest of the face isn’t too bad though.

Also, how can I have hundreds of hair props and still not find the one I’m looking for? Argh!

The Elegant Bun for G3F/G8F is nice (though I need to work more on the ear wisp when fitting this hair to Dawn) but what I really wanted was a long, loose braid where the braid starts at the nap of the neck. The closest I had was Loreley Hair for V4 and Arki’s Dragon Braid for V4 — and I don’t own the Dawn version of the latter (yet.)

The Genesis 1 Vintage Sari (from MEC4D’s personal store) autofitted rather well to Dawn.

I also have the Vintage Kurta for G1…and for the heck of it, here it is fitted to G3M EleBeast.

Ha! It’s almost Ganesha, though with a couple less arms.

The kurta fits EleBeast better than the Egyptian sandals meant for G3M. I added a small amount of push modifier to the outfit, but there were only a couple very small areas of poke through around the thighs, which was easy enough to fix in PSP. The EleBeast does not have small thighs.

Shopping, dial spinning

Don’t know if the upcoming “March Madness” sales will be a bang or a bust, and while I’m trying to hold off on any impulse spending until I see what’s shaking out, I did impulse-buy these two delightfully goofy things the other day:

They were in Fast Grab. I already have the DAZ Monstrosities Undead Fiend, so I’m only missing the Behemoth. Not sure I’ll use them much, but if nothing else I can borrow the skins for my various Genesis creature creator sets.

And that parasite critter is perfectly retro kitsch. The promo ad with it attacking the teddy bear made me laugh.

Not doing much lately, though I’ve been in the mood to play with Dawn’s morphs. Curious to see what I can do with the only the official sets — starter morphs, head morphs, and head morph resource kit (edited to add: and the creature head morphs set.) I finally got around to learning how to make the morphs into a single dial setting so I can now mix and match my own morphs. Yay me!

Might also make them a little easier to share with other DS users, though I’m not sure there would be much of an interest in them.

Some of these faces I’ve posted before.

Used a V4 outfit on the green fae. First time ever rendering it — it looks decidedly uncomfortable and impractical — and first time I’ve used one of Biscuit’s hairs — this one is Unseelie Hair. Basically the’re all separate prop parts you kit-bash together. I like that concept.

The fae body was a mix of a freebie body morph, RawArt’s Dawn Heroine body, and Ken’s Body Type 5. Still working on her face. I used a bit of the werewolf morph and it’s causing a ridge in the brow (at least I think that one’s the culprit) and not sure if I can minimize it or not.

I think I’ll try and see if I can get a convincing looking morph of an woman from India next. The general eyes, mouth, and face shape shouldn’t be a problem but I’m thinking the nose will pose a challenge.

Weather here has been awful. Lots of snow, then freezing rain, then even more snow. Ugh. I’m ready for spring…

Rough week

We had to euthanize our last old lady kitty. 😦

She’d been having issues for a while but the last few weeks her condition rapidly deteriorated (though she was still pretty feisty!) Recently she’d stopped eating and drinking, stopped using the litter box, and she’d become so weak her hind legs weren’t working.

Nearly 19 years old, so pretty amazing lifespan for a cat. But I miss her and her sister, and my house seems so big and empty without the fur children.

We’ll be looking at getting a couple rescue kitties but probably not until summer.

Taking a little time away again…
