Art Doll 02 for Genesis – Version 2

DOWNLOAD: Art Doll 02 for Genesis V. 2

Expanded version of the dial morph in this post. I’ve added separate presets for three heads and two bodies, with a couple fix presets for the eyes.

The bodies are mostly the same except the second one has a slightly slimmer neck and minor adjustments to the limbs. The faces are also similar but with various small changes to the eyes, nose, and mouth.

  1. Load the “Basic Child” Genesis figure
  2. Add a head and body preset, turning off limits when prompted
  3. Add the mesh smoothing modifier to the figure (optional, but recommended)

Same batch of morphs required for these: Genesis Evolution: Head & Body MorphsGenesis Head Morph Resource Kit 2, and DieTrying’s 182 V4 Morphs for Genesis (free.)

Please let me know if you run into any issues with this.

Credits: The old Art Corner 2 backdrop and free MF Chair. The dollies are wearing textures from The Candy Factory for Hitomi and eyelashes from Dolled Up for V4/G1/G2F. Hair props are JenaDe Hair G1, AfroPops Hair G2F, and Two Phase Bob Hair G2/3F. Clothes are Urban Survivors G2M/F, hoodie from Mall Girl G1, Casual Wear Overalls G2F, shoes from Casual Autumn G1, and Duffle Dream G2F.

A couple character dial morphs

Been a while since I’ve done this. Got one for V4 and one for Dawn SE.

DOWNLOAD: Rachel for Dawn (DAZ Studio only)

DOWNLOAD: Oksana for V4

I got lazy with Oksana and did an all-in-one dial preset rather than separate ones for head and body.

Links to the required stuff is in the readme file.

Halloween season is heeeeere!

Always my favorite holiday. Maybe because it arrives during my favorite season, fall.

Spent a little money during the recent DAZ PA sale, though not a lot. My favorite “score” was the Mei Lin 6 Geisha Bundle (wondering what a girl with a Chinese name is doing with a Japanese geisha outfit.) The prop set alone was worth the price for me; the fans and head gear are gorgeous. The kimono is nice too and comes with a number of useful pose presets for G2F and the kimono. Finally started work on a render idea I’ve been wanting to try for a while:

And…still no joy re: creative inspiration. In a funk in that regard. Happens sometimes. When I’m feeling stressed, I’m tired all the time and have trouble concentrating on things. So I’ve just been doing simple stuff for myself, although even my usual stress-buster — gardening — was kind of a wash this year because the weather was so weird. Really cold and rainy for a long time, and even when the rain stopped it wasn’t a very warm summer. Tomatoes were the only garden crop that did well. We have an insane amount of tomatoes, both Roma and cherry tomatoes. We’ve been eating a lot of homemade pasta sauce!

I do have one little Halloween-ish freebie, related to my recent binge of art doll-inspired dial morphs. This one is for Genesis, though I’ve been hopping all around various figures, new and old (except Genesis 8; don’t have much for that figure yet.)

Very niche-interest, I know, but I have fun doing these.

Download here (DS only)

A few previews inside. You’ll need the Genesis Head Morphs, Genesis Body Morphs, Genesis Head Morphs Resource Kit 02, and DieTrying’s free V4 Morphs for Genesis.

She’s tiny with a big fat head, ha! So parent hair props to her head and manually adjust to aforementioned big fat head. Fitting/Autofitting will just mess up the hair props, unless maybe they’re very short hair props. I didn’t try any of those.

After applying the shaping preset, add the smoothing modifier to the Genesis figure. It helps smooth out some of the more extreme areas of the morph.

In case any folks missed the other free dial morphs I posted at Renderosity recently (I got $5.00 in credit!), here’s a lineup:

Available at my Renderosity Freestuff. Nunzia isn’t an art doll inspiration, just a morph based off actress Sofia Boutella.

Happy Holidays!

happyholidays2016

I was going for a vintage 50s holiday card look. Here’s the stylized 50s V4 dial morph; you’ll need both Morphia and V4’s Morphs ++. There are two body versions: the first is shorter and broader through the chest (above) and the second is taller and thinner. Dial morph only, no textures, though I used the REC Toon Tones for Gen4.

A few places to haunt for holiday freebies:

Not free, but a pretty good bargain:

santa_cover_finale232-512

Mec4D’s Santa for Genesis. The TOU are more restrictive than most purchased content, but if you’re just messing around with stuff for yourself, it’s a nice and inexpensive Santa set. (There’s also a Dawn version, which I also own.) Fitting it to other shapes is hit-or-miss — the chest area folds can deform — but looks pretty good with a bit of extra effort and, if necessary, a little tweaking in postwork.

Her chest area required some postwork. 😛

And because I was in a holiday rendering mood, one more!

happyholidays2016-02

I wanted more gravity on the front part of the tree but will assume it just bounced up as the VW went over a bump in the road.

Oh, and I’ll have a few freebies over at Fantasy Attic for the HiveWire family.

Edited to add: A non-postworked preview of the 50s V4 stylized character, this time with the taller and thinner torso option:

Using the transfer morph feature in DS4 allows clothes to fit even the more extreme shapes to V4’s body. Adding mesh smoothing and subdivision to Morphia also improves the look of the figure. I forgot to mention that her eyeballs should be nudged forward a bit; I think I set the Z Translation dial to -0.10 for each.

WIP: Dusk dial morph 02

dusk_dm02-marcello-texture

Still fiddling with this one, but mostly there. Requires the Dusk starter morphs, head/face morphs, and head morphs resource kit, just like the Dawn dial morph WIPs I recently posted.  He’s wearing Tempesta3D’s Marcello texture, with Aram Hair by Joanna/StudioArtVartanian (missing her very much.)

Below is the first attempt test render, which I did while playing with the Alex Hair M4 by Lady Littlefox. Having trouble with this hair prop; getting file errors for the main duf file (hazards of changing file locations!) and OMG it takes forever to render! But I was so excited to see it because I immediately thought: “Ooooh, now I can do Alex Row fan art!” I’m not really into fan art, but still fangirly over Alex Row.

Oddly, my autofit no longer works as it used to after I reinstalled the DS-updated Dawn/Dusk/Luna files. 😕 Usually DS asks what’s being converted — pants, shirt, boots, gloves, skirt etc — and I no longer get that option. Argh!

Anyway, I wasn’t happy with his mouth so I worked on it a little more — and continue to be frustrated that there is no morph dial to lower or raise the nose. (There are a number of face morphs I wish were available, but working with what’s available here.)

Probably the final version, wearing 3D Universe’sAxel texture:

Axel’s skin is a bit more painterly, so it’s the next best thing to a no texture render. Then I gave CWRW’s Taka texture a try:

dusk_dm02-taka-texture

There’s some texture stretching under the nose, unfortunately, that makes the stubble look more like a thin mustache.

In the end, I guess he’s kind of the Dusk version of Hugh M4 (which, I realized much later, looks an awful lot like my old college boyfriend):

Going to do one more face dial, then get to work transferring the parameter values over to Poser.
